Black Belt Jiu-Jitsu European Champion & World Medallist raises £292 for Borderline Arts

Around 35 people came along to Vanessa's BJJ Seminar

Vanessa English (age 29) lives in Derby and is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). She competes internationally for the UK and for her team 'Gracie Barra'. She is the Current IBJJF Black Belt World Medallist and Current IBJJF European Champion. Pretty impressive, we think!

Not content with competing or training to simply better herself, Vanessa contacted us to say she wanted to run a BJJ Seminar (class) to raise money for Borderline Arts. We were of course delighted about this and got together to organise the time and date.

Around 35 people went along, and alongside the seminar, there was also a raffle, with prizes very generously donated by Tatami Fightwear (Vanessa's sponsors).

The date chosen was Saturday 24th November, and it was a fantastic success! It took place at Gracie Barra Long Eaton, thanks to Gret Zoeller who owns the school there.

Vanessa chatted to us about the event, saying,

"It was a fun filled day with adults and children of all ages, doing something they loved, whilst supporting a great cause".

We are so grateful to Vanessa, Gret, Tatami Fightwear and of course all those who went along on the day, as they raised an incredible £292!

As a small charity, with no regular funding, this will help us massively to continue to run our creative groups for adults with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and to keep raising awareness of BPD in creative ways.
