Mysterious train journey
Karla Barnes
It’s not too late, to start again
Whether it’s restarting the day
Or hitting refresh on life
Life is a journey, we decide our path
The conductor of the train
No set destination only progression along the tracks
Life might be a bit bumpy
But to survive we must hold tight with heads held high
No matter what we face
Some days we may wobble or even fall off
But it’s essential to pick ourselves up
Dust ourselves off and not dwell on mistakes
But reconcile with our progression
Every felt trapped in a corner
With no way out
When walls are caving in all around you
Or where you can’t wake from a nightmare, paralysed from fear
Unable to scream or run
Darkness spreading in your mind
Like a puff of smoke
The tightness of your chest – gasping for air
Racing thoughts
As if your heads a rally race
That’s fear
I used to live in constant fear
For what I had done, who I may have upset
With consequences yet to come
In the darkest of days, I found courage
As the darkness closes in, I found strength to push back with almighty force
I won’t let fear win, it won’t consume me again
The light grows bigger and brighter
Like the sun beaming through clouds
I feel hopeful and resentments fade
Courage grows and blossoms
Suddenly life is manageable
Without faith nothing is possible
That’s courage
